Five persons, including a seven-year-old child, were killed while seven others were injured after a passenger bus collided with a van in Eastern Samar on Sunday night.
Report said that four of the victims:
PO1 Lea Caores, of Dulag, Leyte, assigned at the Eastern Samar Provincial Police Office;
Jodie Ann Malindong, 17;
Rowena Malindog, 24;
Wendel Amande, all of General McArthur, Eastern Samar—died instantly.
The seven year-old victim was brought to a hospital but later died, the report added.
Injured in the accident were
Antonio Tamayo, 58;
Cecilia Casas, 13;
Jose Lospe, 60;
Editha Boco, 58;
Annie Rosas, 58;
Roland Mondal, 39;
and William Galenzoga, 37.
Initial police investigation showed that a DLTB bus, bound for Guiuan Eastern Samar was speeding along a curved part of the national highway in Barangay Bagtic, Quinapondan, Eastern Samar when a Duptours van accidentally slammed onto it.
Police are still investigating the incident.
